OVERVIEW

Power distribution and electrical safety for entertainment electricians - Two days of fun and learning covering most of the topics listed in the content outline of the ETCP Entertainment Electrician Certification exam not including control systems. Little experience? Come on in! Lots of experience? You'll love the class. It starts with basic electricity, circuit laws, and theory, and builds towards more advanced topics including power distribution, power factor, and harmonics, with an emphasis on electrical safety, the use of PPE, codes and regulations, grounding and bonding, and GFCIs.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Develop and sharpen skills related to properly designing portable power distribution systems
  • Recognize and mitigate the hazards involved in distributing electrical power
  • Using the right techniques, tools, and PPE for specific tasks.

    Upon completing the Entertainment Electrics workshop, attendees will earn 8 hours of credit towards their Live Performance Electrical Certification (LPEC) offered through Actsafe. CLICK HERE for more information.

    Richard Cadena
    Academy of Production Technology

    Richard Cadena is an ETCP Certified Entertainment Electrician and an ETCP Recognized Trainer with 35 years of experience in the entertainment lighting industry. He is the author of: “Electricity for Entertainment Electricians & Technicians, 3rd Edition”; “Automated Lighting: The Art and Science of Moving Light, 3rd Edition”; “Lighting Design for Modern Houses of Worship”; “Focus on Lighting Technology”

    He is a columnist for Lighting & Sound America, Lighting & Sound International, and Protocol magazines. As a freelance lighting designer and lighting consultant he has worked on
    concert tours, television, theatre, motion picture productions, and he has designed dozens of lighting systems for permanent installations. He is a member of IATSE Local 205 in good standing. Current and former clients include Cirque du Soleil, Carnival Cruise Lines, SeaWorld, Saturday Night Live, NBA, IATSE Locals 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 16, 58, 479, and more.
