FOUNDATIONS OF PROTECTIVE SPACES WORKSHOP
October 24, 2024 | Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel | Vancouver, British Columbia

OVERVIEW

You may have heard the term “safer spaces” in relation to performing arts and live events, but what are ‘Protective” Spaces? Protective Spaces are physical establishments, but also teams within these industries that recognize that safety requires ongoing action and risk assessment. Spaces that work to protect the people inside them - patrons, artists, and staff - don’t happen by accident! Stacey Forrester from Good Night Out Vancouver will be hosting this session which will cover the basics of Protective Spaces for those in the industry, including practices for production managers, venues, artist managers and patrons. Join her for this interactive session and leave with tools you can use to create safe music experiences right away!

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Identify risk factors for sexual harassment and misconduct in the performing arts and live events sectors.
  • Explore tools and strategies to reduce risk and respond to sexual violence at events.

      COURSE NOTES

Presented in collaboration with Canadian Live Music Association. This project is funded in part by FACTOR, the Government of Canada and Canada’s private radio broadcasters.
