OVERVIEW
Step into the Event Command Team for the fictional Halifax International Cycling Classic, a one-day, internationally sanctioned road race featuring elite competition, Start and Finish Villages, live entertainment, sponsor activations, and thousands of spectators.
As the event unfolds, your team will navigate a series of evolving operational challenges inspired by the realities of managing complex live events. At each Beacon, new information will emerge, conditions will change, and your team will be challenged to balance safety, operations, stakeholder expectations, and the event experience.
Working alongside professionals from across the events industry, you'll make decisions, balance priorities, and experience the dynamic nature of event leadership in a collaborative and engaging environment.
This is not a tabletop exercise, nor a lecture. But rather an interactive evening experience that combines networking, problem-solving, and real-world event management in a uniquely Nova Scotian setting.
Whether your background is sport, festivals, entertainment, venues, occupational health and safety, public safety, emergency management, or government, every participant brings a valuable perspective to the Event Command Team.
No specialized knowledge of tabletops exercises, cycling, or endurance events is required.
Success depends on communication, collaboration, and making informed decisions with the information available.
Whether you are new to event safety or a seasoned professional, introvert or extrovert, all are welcome!

| Bryan Huneycutt is Vice President of Operations (North America) for Halo Solutions and founder of HuneyBadger Entertainment Consulting. Throughout his career, he has helped shape the safety and operations of theatre, concerts, festivals, theme parks, film, television, and major public events across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Bryan previously led Entertainment Safety for Disney Parks and Resorts Live Entertainment and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Event Safety Alliance. An educator, consultant, and researcher, he is committed to translating real- world experience into practical strategies that help organizations make better decisions, strengthen resilience, and create environments where both people and productions can thrive. |
