ELIGIBILITY

As a federally incorporated not-for-profit, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

• be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
• be at least 18 years old;
• not have been declared incapable under the laws of a Canadian province or territory, or by a court in a jurisdiction outside Canada;
• be an individual (a corporation cannot be a director);
• not be in bankrupt status.

The Board of Directors is seeking candidates with a passion for the arts, entertainment, and live events who can share their skills and expertise in the following areas:

• Finance and Accounting
• Law
• Human Resources
• Marketing and Communications
• Fundraising and Sponsorship

SELECTION AND RATIFICATION PROCESS

Nominations 

• Nominations will be submitted by completing this Google form, including the provision of two references, and a resume/CV.
• Once again, if nominating someone else they must be fully aware and consent to be considered and, if selected, approved as a Director of ESAC.
  
  

Evaluation of Candidates 

• Nominations will be reviewed by the Governance and Nominations Committee of the ESAC Board of Directors, in accordance with ESAC Bylaw 1, S.3.10.
• Nominees may be invited to an interview with members of the committee.
• Nominees will be assessed based on:
1. their skills and experience,
2. the suitable of their skills and experiences to serve the needs of the organizations and fill gaps in the expertise of the Board, 
3. their motivation and rationale for serving as a Director of ESAC, and
4. their ability to contribute to the effective governance and leadership of the organization.
• Consideration will also be given towards ensuring that the Board of Directors represents the diversity of Canada’s live events community.
• The Governance and Nominations Committee will present the full slate of nominees to the Board of Directors, as well as a list of selected nominees to fill the available vacant seats on the Board. The current Board will then vote to adopt the selected nominees as the candidates recommended for election by the members.
• All nominees will be informed whether they have been selected or not. 
1. Candidates who are not selected for the board membership at this time are encouraged to consider other volunteer opportunities with the organization.
   
   

Election/Ratification

• At our upcoming Annual Members Meeting, the recommended slate of candidates will be presented to the membership for a vote to ratify the selection and formally elect the Directors.
• Elected Directors will be expected to:
1. maintain active membership in the ESAC,
2. sign and comply with the ESAC Code of Conduct and the Duality and Conflict of Interest Policy,
3. attend regular board and committee meetings,
4. actively participate in the work of the board,
5. enthusiastically share their expertise, and
6. attend ESAC events.
