WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION & LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Empowering Safety and Event Professionals:

In this workshop, we will delve into strategies and cutting-edge technologies poised to empower safety and event professionals in overcoming these challenges. By embracing these innovations, professionals can safeguard public safety, optimize response times, and streamline costs, ultimately contributing to the efficiency and success of live events.

For safety and event professionals, the message is resounding: The path to excellence in incident management is synonymous with the path to ensuring the safety and success of events. As we navigate this ever-changing landscape, let us embark on this journey together, armed with knowledge and innovation, to elevate the standards of event safety to new heights.

Challenges in Event Safety:

In the realm of event safety, professionals confront a series of formidable challenges. These challenges, if left unaddressed, have profound ramifications. They not only extend response times and inflate costs but, most perilously, compromise public safety. To navigate this terrain effectively, safety and event professionals must chart a course toward the development and implementation of comprehensive incident management systems.

1. Incident Oversights: The absence of centralized incident management systems can lead to critical incidents being overlooked, potentially resulting in safety lapses.

2. Prioritization Dilemmas: Unstructured systems often force professionals to grapple with prioritization issues, where urgent and minor incidents vie for attention, leading to misaligned focus.

3. Visual Context Gaps: In many cases, events lack visual documentation, making it challenging to evaluate situations accurately.

4. Strategic vs. Operational Divide: The disparity between command-level expectations and on-the-ground implementation can cause discrepancies in incident responses.

5. Integrity Breaches: Manual records and spreadsheets can be tampered with, undermining the credibility of incident data.

6. Training Gaps: Inadequate training and a lack of competency records pose risks, especially during crisis situations.

7. Unrecorded Communications: The absence of recorded radio channels often forces professionals to resort to unsecured private messaging platforms, raising data compliance and integrity concerns.

8. Corporate Amnesia: Analog and manual systems hinder the development of a corporate memory and governance framework, obstructing organizational learning.

9. Data Sharing Hurdles: Data sharing between organizations remains a cumbersome process, lacking evidential robustness.

10. Personnel Shortages: Instances of "ghosting," where contracted personnel are not adequately provided, can undermine incident response capabilities.

Addressing these challenges is not just an aspiration; it is an imperative for event safety professionals.
