OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY (OHS) BOOTCAMP WORKSHOP

ctober 19, 2025 | Toronto, Ontario

OVERVIEW

Are you ever unsure or overwhelmed by the requirements of an OHS Program? That is okay, this workshop can help!

In this workshop, Claire will take a national approach to OHS with her usual mindset of progress, not perfection. Whether you are at the early stages of implementing a program, or have a program but want to ensure it is compliant and effective – this workshop is for you.

Claire provides a holistic overview of an OHS program and how the elements work together to form safety management systems that bring safety from a written policy to actual activities that contribute to preventing injuries, compliance, reducing risks and making worksites more efficient. We will cover:

        • Workplace safety legislation
        • Roles and duties
        • Written policies and instructions
        • Training and education
        • Hazard identification and risk assessments
        • Hierarchy of controls
        • Reporting systems
        • Follow up and investigations
        • Tracking corrective actions
        • Safety committees
        • Management meetings
        • Records/statistics
        • Supervision and monitoring OHS activities

With an increased focus on contractor management in our industry, this is an important session whether you are an event organizer, venue, contracting company or labour provider as OHS requirements apply to you.

The objective of this session is for participants to gain confidence navigating OHS requirements, understanding of how elements and activities work together to improve safety, demonstrate due diligence and give you some (free, yes – free!) resources provided by Canary Safety and Risk Consulting or from reputable H&S associations across Canada.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

        • Understand the importance of OHS at workplaces and that it is a regulatory requirement
        • Understand key elements of OHS (see bullet points in description above)
        • Understand how these items work together for safety and due diligence
